Sometimes, inspiration is easier than Paris Hilton. It’s not really that easy to come by, but sometimes you get lucky. Of course, luck is usually a byproduct of busting it on a daily basis. So when I found inspiration by literally just sitting on my ass this afternoon, I was digging the irony.
Went to see Mockingjay with my lovely daughter. She turned me on to the Suzanne Collins books a few years ago and we have been feasting on the cinematic versions ever since. I was initially miffed (pissed) when they halved the final chapter, but after seeing it, I do believe they made the right choice.
I’m gonna throw in a spoiler alert, so if you don’t want to know what happens, scroll down a tad.
Mockingjay Spoiler Alert:
Everybody dies.
It was near the end of the movie that an idea hit me over the head and asked me to take it home. I like my ideas the way I like my women .. strong, decisive and ready for anything. This one checked all my boxes, and so I ran it by Christy and she approved. Which is why we will be considering how to maneuver it into our story moving forward.
And speaking of our Editor in Chief, she came up with the truly brilliant idea of creating a space for Sam and Dave in the blogosphere, so there will be more news on that front in the weeks to come.
Anyways, I’m dealing up another installment of Sam and Dave’s Inconvenient Truths this Sunday. It’s gonna be Dave and his lonesome song journey to the love of his life. No spoilers, not even a hint of what comes next . . sooooo, you’ll just have to catch it on Sunday.
If you want to know what inspires us to imagine a world full of flesh eating zombies? Welp, that’s easy.

I haven’t seen either Mockingjay movie, yet. I figured I would wait until part II came out and watch them both. I did enjoy the books. And that video doesn’t make me laugh. It almost makes me cry. I simply don’t understand what drives these people. I don’t even think they really know what they are fighting over. They’re just grabbing stuff and fighting over it. One of the scenes was pillows. Pillows! Sheesh. Anyway . . . I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! 🙂
I devoured the books, it was probably why I am partial to Hunger Games over the Divergent and Maze Runner series, where I didn’t read the books beforehand.
As for the vid, no, it’s not funny at all. It’s sad, it’s depressing. I remember when my kids were babies, everyone had Elmo fever one Christmas. I didn’t get it then, I don’t get it now. I let my kids know early on, I will not risk life and limb for a gift. Ever.

Being thankful for each experience, good and bad, because (we live) we learn from it all, and it all made us who we are today. I’m a huge Alanis fan to, btw. Been working on a piece about how all the time growing up I thought I was more Madonna, but turns out I was more Alanis all along. Sounds weirder than it is.

You know I’m seeking out the approval of my Blog Bosswoman. You’re the one whose orders I take, you da inspiration for this walk of Sam and Dave’s, so to say I was spurred by your emails would be an understatement.
PS- The more I think about it, the more I think we should go with that idea we had been tossing around. Would like to toss around some possible ways to do it.

I loved the Hunger Games series in novel form. Devoured the books just as you did, which is unusual for me, because I normally do not read dystopian fiction. The world is bleak enough as it is, thank you very much. I couldn’t bring myself to see the movies, though.
I think the reason I loved Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games is the same reason I love Sam and Dave’s stories — it’s character-driven storytelling, as opposed to plot driven. I’d follow the characters anywhere.
Glad you got to spend time with your daughter on Thanksgiving. The boy came home and brought a college friend who was visiting him in Boston. We laughed a lot and talked a lot, played CAH, and watched a very bizarre French film.
I did not go anywhere near a store on Black Friday. Because. Dystopian.

BAHAHAHA! I think it was about 7:30 CST? I have 3 blogs, and one of them kept showing up like I was blogging on the other side of the world. FINALLY…I found the settings and fixed it. I work in three different time zones, and my boss lives in the 4th – it’s enough to drive a ditzy gal like me crazy!
I love that word, dystopian. And I get what you’re saying. The world is depressing enough, we don’t need a pile on. At least Sam and Dave carry the hope of all good things in a world that doesn’t give us nearly enough of it.
